Bio

Deb Picard

Deb is a lover of melody, harmony, and words. The songs she connects with the most—and the ones she often writes—may speak of difficult realities, yet hold onto hope for the future.

Deb first picked up the guitar as a high school student in New Jersey, but it wasn't until moving to Boston in her 20’s that she began writing original songs. While her main influences include rock, folk, and pop songwriters, her songs tend to include elements of all three.

Some of her most memorable performances have been on stage with friends: with the Brian Jansen Band (with Jeff Fletcher and Fumi Kanaya) and with the Hot Lava Mamas (alongside Natali Freed, Naomi Edelman, Zack Niman, Brendan Gibson, Ethan Mackler, Nargis Khestoo, and friends), performing at venues in the Boston area, such as: The Burren, All Asia Cafe, Club Passim, and the Lilipad. Her solo performances include The Twisted Tree Cafe in Asbury Park, NJ, Out of the Blue Gallery, Cambridge, MA and All Asia Cafe, Cambridge, MA.

In addition, Deb wants to thank Doug Kwartler at Hollow Body Studios for the masterful production of her EPs, the self-titled “Deb Picard” (2013) and “Old Songs” (2019).

Deb currently lives in the Boston area with her husband and three cats. Singing harmonies is one of her favorite things to do and she’s always open to contributing her contralto vocals to new projects.
